たてこむ【立て込む】

1 〔人などで混雑する〕 be crowded [thronged, packed] 《with…》.

●乗客の最も立て込む時に during the (peak) rush hour; when the trains are most crowded.

●その書店は客が立て込んでいた. The bookstore was packed [crowded with customers].

・車内が立て込んできた. The car was starting to get crowded.

2 〔仕事などに追われている〕 have a lot (of work) to do; have one's hands full; be busy 《with, doing》; be under pressure; be pressed.

●急の仕事が立て込んでいる have (a lot of) urgent work to do; be under pressure to deal with unexpected work.

●スケジュールが立て込んでいる. My schedule is full [packed]. | There's no [little] room in my schedule.

・ただ今注文が立て込んでいてこれ以上お引き受けできません. (We regret that) we are fully occupied dealing with current orders and cannot accept any more at present.

・年末にはもっと仕事が立て込む. We will have even more business toward the end of the year.
